Sun Protection Factor (SPF) is a measurement that indicates the amount of ultraviolet radiation required to burn an area of skin protected by sunscreen. The higher the SPF number, the stronger the protection against those rays. When you hear “broad spectrum,” that means it protects against both UVA and UVB rays.
UVA rays have longer wavelengths and are associated with skin aging issues, whereas UVB rays have shorter wavelengths and contribute to skin burning. Both UVA and UVB rays cause damage to skin cells and can lead to skin cancer and a variety of other conditions.
JACKET is a zinc-enriched, broad spectrum, SPF 50+ sunscreen that blocks 98% of UVA and UVB rays. No sunscreen or SPF rating provides 100% UV protection.
The American Academy of Dermatology recommends that everyone, regardless of age, gender or skin tone, use sunscreen that meets the following minimum criteria:
Yes, JACKET is water resistant for up to 80 minutes. This is the maximum water-resistance claim permitted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which is the governing body for sunscreens in the U.S. Formulated for performance, and with athletes and adventurers in mind, JACKET holds up against extreme sweat as well.
No. JACKET is non-comedogenic, meaning it will not clog pores or cause breakouts. Please note that there are currently no regulations in place for usage of the term “non-comedogenic,” so many products make the claim whether they are or not. JACKET is not of of those! If you are unsure about a product, please consult a dermatologist before using.

Absorbing sunscreen with pluses
I wasn’t sure about using this on my face because I always breakout from other sunscreens. This one hasn’t had that issue. I have been using it after my serum and in place of a moisturizer since it has so much goodness in it. It absorbs well, I have not broken out, and my skin has actually looked a little better lately. It’s great! — RenFris
Ultraviolet radiation is a carcinogen that causes and contributes to various types of skin cancer. Overexposure to UVA and/or UVB rays alters the DNA of skin cells in the affected area(s), increasing the cancer risk. Typically, when caught early, skin cancer is treatable and curable, but it can be deadly. More importantly, by wearing sunscreen, protecting your skin and scheduling check-ups with a dermatologist, you can make skin cancer more preventable. Wearing sunscreen as recommended reduces the risk of developing melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, by 50 percent.
We’re a little biased, so we’ll sit this one out. We will, however, share the recommendation issued by the American Academy of Dermatology:
Everyone needs sunscreen, ideally one that offers broad spectrum protection, SPF 30 or higher, and water resistance. Anyone can get skin cancer, regardless of age, gender or skin tone. It is estimated that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Sunscreen can also help prevent premature skin aging, such as wrinkles and age spots, caused by too much unprotected UV exposure.

JACKET not only helps prevent sun damage, but also repairs existing issues such as fading age (dark) spots, smoothing wrinkles and reducing hyperpigmentation. This may not seem like a priority for kids, but any time spent in the sun is an opportunity for damage to occur.
It was long estimated that as much as 50% of sun damage was amassed prior to age 30, and keep in mind that a child’s skin is far more sensitive than that of an adult. Studies indicate a higher incidence of melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer, in individuals with a history of sunburns during their childhood and adolescent years. In fact, the MD Anderson Cancer Center reports that one or more sunburns as a child can double the lifetime risk of melanoma. Wearing sunscreen as recommended reduces the risk of developing melanoma by 50 percent.
Yes. Interestingly, JACKET was originally positioned as a sunscreen for men when it was first introduced in 2016. Not because there was anything in it that made it exclusive to male users, but because the patented formula in JACKET was developed by a male dermatologist who recognized that so few men (compared to women) use sunscreen as they should, and he wanted to educate and help them make more informed decisions about their skin care and health. That is still a major initiative at JACKET.

Best anti-aging sunscreen. Absolutely # 1.
This sunscreen actually faded my age spots away. It’s amazing. I started using the sunblock everyday for sun protection and after about two weeks people started asking me what I was doing to my skin that made it look so good. I’m sure it’s the all the antioxidants that are blended into the sunscreen. Whatever it is, I love the stuff. — Juan S.
